Today I want to talk about what makes our Buono shirt so ..Buono?
The name is exactly what you think it is. It's simply a great shirt. A basic item that has its place in anyone's closet.

What's the most important part of a shirt? The fabric.
You might have heard before that we are very transparent about what cotton we use in our textiles. This is no different with this piece.

We use handpicked cotton from Côte d'Ivoire, also known as Ivory Coast in English speaking countries.

What's so special about Côte d'Ivoire cotton?

We wanted to make jeans like they used to, back when jeans first started gaining popularity.

Most cotton used these days has been altered through selective breeding, making the fibers longer.
Not with Côte d'Ivoire. The cotton there is still naturally cultivated and hasn't been altered, meaning the fibers are shorter - thus resembling fibers used for jeans in the 1800s.

Additionally, there are no machines involved in harvesting cotton in Côte d'Ivoire, everything is handpicked.
This makes not only for more traditional cotton but also secures jobs for cotton workers.

Japan Blue Jeans is the only brand in not only Japan but all of Asia to use and support Côte d'Ivoire cotton (as of 2020).

We then import the cotton to Japan and weave our denim on our mills in Kojima, Okayama.

All of our Côte d'Ivoire denim fabrics are easy to distinguish through the Ivorian flag on one side of the selvage ears.

When we first started using Côte d'Ivoire cotton 6 years ago, we focused on jeans. Now we have all kinds of products with Côte d'Ivoire, ranging from T-shirts, dress shirts to Jackets.

This brings us to our Buono shirt which we launched last year!
