Hi, today I'm here to talk about our Inlay shirts.

If you haven't heard about them, now you will!

First off, let me tell you about the fabric.

This is a 16.5 oz, 18 gauge fabric made in Gifu, Japan. We call it "Inlay".

The story behind it:

~ The Knitted Welt Stitch ~

A factory in Gifu that has been our trusted client for over 5 years, is producing this wonderful fabric.

The right side looks like sheeting and taking a look at the left side you can see a horizontally running pile yarn.
What makes this different from normal sweats is the lack of a binding yarn.

The machine used for this is a circular Singer knitting machine.

We did face a couple of problems. Since we wanted a Really Thick fabric, the yarn of course had to be thicker.

The machine wasn't built for such thick yarns and so we had to try over and over again with different yarns and setting.

Now, here are 2 of the most important points to make the magic happen:

① Soften the yarn by steaming it before knitting

② Coat the yarn in silicone wax to reduce cotton dust

(We use high-quality silicone wax to prevent melting.)

Of course, there are other important things such as experience and knowledge, but this sums up how we were able to make our dream of a thick inlay fabric come true.

Three basic colors - White, Grey, and Navy.

Additionally we release seasonal colors, such as green.
