We can find a lot of stretch jeans however they are not selvedge denim.

How about “selvedge” stretch denim?

JBJ has stretch denim woven by vintage shuttle looms which is rare in the market!

Jeans has more than 100 years history.

Stretch denim is a still new material in their history and stretch selvedge denim is a quite new technology.

Generally, elastic yarn (stretch, polyurethane mixed yarn) is unsuitable for the vintage shuttle looms because weaving process of selvedge denim is unstable. It’s difficult for vintage shuttle looms to maintain constant weaving speed and thread tension.

These features give denim unique texture like vintage jeans. However, on the other hand, quality is unstable so that stretch denim is unsuitable for vintage shuttle looms.

For these reasons, you cannot find many stretch selvedge jeans in the market.

Luckily there are a lot of craftsmen in Okayama and they know well about weaving selvedge denim so we successfully developed "stretch selvedge denim".

- About stretch selvedge denim (#05) -

Our stretch selvedge denim is made from a blend of cotton from USA and Australia.

This is an authentic stretch denim but it has a selvedge.

As finishing process of fabric, "weak singeing" makes the fabric face uneven. It will give vintage-like looks.

This 05 fabric has also texture like vintage denim even though it has stretch.

That's because we use old fashioned process, whereas uneven fabrics are commonly produced by modern looms controlled by computer.

We guess you are wondering about "aging" which is the best part of jeans.

Don't worry!! We made 05 fabric with excellent aging by applying the same process of dyeing and weaving as 100% cotton denim.
