In this Spring Summer collection, we launched "WASHI DENIM" items.
Washi (和紙) means a Japanese traditional paper. It is made from natural plant fibers and is good quality and high durability, and is said to last up to 1,000 years!
Since Washi is a natural material derived from plants, it is low impact on the environment and would be using effectively of sources.
Let's see the details of Washi denim.
- What is "Washi yarn"? -
Washi yarn is made by cutting durable Japanese paper (=washi) into long and thin strips, and twisting them, so that it is more durable and light than cotton yarn.
Washi has a high water absorbency as same as the feature of paper and absorb water more than cotton. In addition to it, it is also quick-drying so quite unique fiber that has both function of water-absorbing quick-drying.
It also features smooth with less fluff.
- Selvedge -
Washi denim used in J317 has "Selvedge"! Use Washi yarns for weft and cotton yarns for warp, and woven by vintage shuttle loom.
